La Puerta del Diablo, San Salvador, El Salvador

Today I wanted to visit my dear dear friend the devil. So that I went to his door in San Salvador, La Puerta del Diablo (the Devil's door). It is basically three rocks that has been created after a natural catastrophe. You can walk on one of them and that give you a wonderful 360° view. I don't have a lot of pictures as my camera run out of battery (obviously), but I had time to do a small video of almost 260° view....

Botanic Garden and Exhibit of Orchids, San Salvador, El Salvador

Yesterday I went to the botanic garden of San Salvador. It has been hard to find it, I have to say that I had no map so I was trying to remember the Google map :) It was actually funny because it is located in the crater of a volcano that have been now converted in a industrial area (What world are we living in? LOL).

The garden was bigger than I expected and had some local plants and also from some other tropical areas. And the funniest part was that there were a lot of birds, butterflies, dragonflies that are not possible to spot in San Salvador. It was really nice.

Etlingera elatior

Musa coccinea
Syzygium malaccense

Ochna mossambiccensis

Brownea macrophylla
Passiflora coccinea
Amherstia nobilis

After that I have been to an exhibit hold by the Salvadoran Association of Orchids which were showing a lots of orchids from Central America but also from Asia. It was quite small but it was beautiful to see all the diversity in terms of shape and colors of those flowers. Sadly my pictures don't rend the beauty of the exhibit.

Alegria, El Salvador

Today I went to Alegria (which means joy or happiness). It is a small village on the side of the volcano Tecapa (I think).

From this little village it is possible to walk to the Laguna de Alegria, which is the main attraction. It's is a small lake inside the crater of the volcano. The water is really green and smells like eggs or rotten something due to the presence of sulphur.

The amazing thing about Alegria and the way to the Laguna is that you can have a wonderful view on the valley on both side of the volcano and you could see really far (specially if the weather would have been brighter).
